Tasks Pro™: History

The Tasks Pro™ Story

Tasks Pro™ is the multi-user version of my acclaimed Tasks software. I originally created Tasks in 2002 when I couldn't find an existing web-based hierarchical task manager. After using the system for about six months, I released version 1.0 to the public as donationware on January 20, 2003. The enthusiastic reception Tasks 1.0 (and subsequent releases) received was a very pleasant surprise. This feedback encouraged me to build the new features and functionality you see in the current Tasks Jr. release. In the first year I had over 25,000 downloads of Tasks, completely surpassing my expectations.

One of the things consistently requested was the addition of multi-user functionality. This is a much bigger undertaking than it sounds, especially when you are determined to "do it right, or not do it at all". Since I didn't need the multi-user capability myself, it wasn't until I was approached by several people who offered to help sponsor the development that I began to seriously plan out the multi-user version.

As more people contacted me to inquire about the potential for the multi-user version, several more sponsors joined. The fact that these generous people were willing to sponsor the development on the promise of the multi-user functionality while only having seen the single-user product convinced me that this was indeed (as many people had told me) going to be a saleable product.

I am very pleased with the Tasks Pro™ product, and I hope you thoroughly enjoy using it.
